Anamorphic framing and flare
The constant 1.33x horizontal squeeze gives footage an approximately 2.35:1 aspect ratio after de-squeezing a 16:9 recording. The fast T1.8 aperture allows filming under available light and contributes to oval bokeh and subject separation. A minimum focusing distance of 0.40 m offers flexibility for foreground elements and detailed inserts.
Autofocus and manual cine control
An STM stepping motor enables autofocus and supported camera subject tracking, while an AF/MF switch allows a change to manual focusing. The 360° focus-ring rotation, cine-standard focus gearing and switchable click/de-click aperture control provide more deliberate operation for planned takes. A USB-C port supports lens firmware updates.
Optics and matched rigging
The optical design uses 16 elements in 12 groups, including five cylindrical elements and one aspherical element, with an 11-blade diaphragm.
